John and Julie wanted us to replace the existing, poor-quality extensions at the back of their new home in Oakham with something that gave them a better connection to their garden.
They had purchased the home to begin their retirement and enjoy the next phase of their lives together. Their new house had all the space they needed and a lovely garden, but the connection between the two needed improvement. Their kitchen felt dark and was cut off from their garden by the extensions.
Sitting in the dining area you really feel as if you are in the garden.
Julie, Oakham
We helped them to create a spacious and light-filled kitchen/dining room which radically improved the connection to their garden. Large and carefully positioned windows direct views down the length of the garden to make you feel like you’re sat within the greenery. Large roof lights flood the old kitchen with plenty of natural light.
The high-quality Velfac windows and a well-insulated construction mean this extension will be a warm and comfortable place to spend time in during their retirement.
We also helped John and Julie to future-proof their home by converting the garage into new snug, with the option of adapting it into a ground-floor bedroom with an ensuite in the future.
We supported John and Julie from the beginning of the design process and then to achieve planning permission. We then produced a detailed set of construction drawings for their contractor to use during the build.
